Hypnotherapy for confidence and self-worth
For the capable person who still feels about to be found out.
Low confidence often hides in high achievers. On paper you're doing well. Inside there's a running commentary: you got lucky, you're not ready, they'll work it out soon. So you over-prepare, over-explain, or stay quiet in the meeting where you know the answer.
Confidence isn't something you can think your way into, because the doubt doesn't live in your thinking. It lives in old conclusions about yourself, drawn long before you had any say in them. Hypnotherapy works with those conclusions where they're stored, and gives you a different experience of yourself, one your body can actually believe.
Does this sound familiar?
- Feeling like an imposter in your own career
- Over-explaining yourself to feel understood
- Holding back your voice to keep the peace
- Brushing off praise, quick to accept blame
- Fear of being seen or judged keeping a dream on hold
- Comparing yourself, and always coming up short
How the work approaches it
Find the original verdict
Through strategic questioning we trace the belief back: when you decided you weren't enough, and what it has been costing you since.
Update it in hypnosis
We revisit that old conclusion with the resources you have now, and build a new felt sense of who you are, in your own words and images so it fits.
Practise being seen
Confidence grows by doing. Between sessions you take small, real steps, with a recording to reinforce the work. We adjust as you go.
What the research says
There isn't a large body of research on hypnosis for confidence specifically, so I won't quote numbers that don't exist.
What I can point to is the evidence for the approach as a whole. The first meta-analysis of Ericksonian hypnotherapy (2026) found a large effect across eight randomised trials, including for depression. And anxiety, which so often sits underneath low confidence, is one of the best-researched uses of hypnosis (see hypnotherapy for anxiety). Here's what that review found, and what it doesn't say.

Questions people ask
Can hypnotherapy help with public speaking?
It's a common reason people come. We work on the fear response itself, then rehearse speaking in hypnosis, so your body has already been there before you step up.
Will it change my personality?
No. You stay you. The aim is to clear what's been in the way, not to install someone else.
How is this different from coaching?
Coaching works on what you do next. This work goes underneath, to why you've been holding back, and then supports the doing.
